Event Details

The Molyjam is coming to Sydney! What Would Molydeux? http://www.whatwouldmolydeux.com/

What Would Molydeux examines the work of videogame industry veteran Peter Molyneux's Twitter parody account, Peter Molydeux: (@petermolydeux). Teams will have 48 hours to create a moving game based off Molydeux's tweets.

Even Peter Molyneux himself, who is known for his work on games like Populous, Dungeon Keeper, Black and White, Theme Park, and more recently for his work as designer on the Fable series of games, will be involved at the UK event!

In Sydney, the Molyjam will be held at the Scientia building at the University of New South Wales' Kensington campus. The venue holds 100-120 comfortably with tables, and a chill-out area with beanbags and the like to relax when you're not busy working on your amazing game!

Thanks to Blackberry/RIM for making this possible!

Following the 7pm close of developing there will be a game festival where Australian game reviewers will take a look at each game and give teams insight and tips! Prizes like Blackberry Playbooks will be awarded at the conclusion to some of the best games shown off!

Ticket includes:

  1. Wi-fi Account at the University of New South Wales for the duration of the Molyjam. Your e-mail will be provided to the University for the purpose of creating the Wi-Fi account.

You will be given more details on this at the nominated e-mail as the account is created.

THE CLOSE-OFF FOR WIFI ACCOUNTS IS THIS THURSDAY AT 2PM. ENSURE YOUR TICKET IS PURCHASED PRIOR TO THIS TIME TO ENSURE YOUR WI-FI ACCOUNT IS READY AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT.

  2. Minimal catering provided and there are tons of great food outlets near the University for you to choose from!

  3. Access to the venue for the course of those 48 hours.

  4. Temporary licenses for game-building tool Unity (and perhaps more!) for the purpose of making a game at the Molyjam. (The licenses are ONLY for this purpose and are temporary).

There will be a meet-up time shortly before the 7pm kick-off where people are able to catch-up with one another and people not in teams will be able to find teams and get involved!

You DON'T have to be a game developer/coder to get involved! Just bring your imagination and you can either get involved with another team or use no-experience-required game-development software!

Things you need to bring:

  • Sleeping bag if you plan to be staying the full 48 hours. You're free to leave at night and come back in the day, but keep in mind you'll be wasting precious hours!

  • Laptop, headphones, controllers to play/test game with, hard-drive, dev software (we'll be providing Unity free licenses for the Molyjam) and any other equipment you'll need to develop games with. Tables, chairs, and Wi-fi are provided, but everything else is bring-your-own.

PARKING IS FREE AFTER 7:30PM ON FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND!

There is ample public transport to and from the University.

  • Money. Minimal catering will be provided by the University, but if you are in the mood for a fuller meal, there are plenty of great food outlets near the venue! Also, if you're paying at the door, remember to bring your e-Ticket and money!

Remember to bring your e-Ticket with you!
